VOSTOK  BAY  NATIONAL  COMPREHENSIVE  MARINE  SANCTUARY

   VOSTOK Bay National Comprehensive Marine Sanctuary was created in 1989 to preserve Vostok Bay biota for research, development of the biological fundamentals of mariculture and organization and development of mariculture plantations.
   The 1.82 thousand hectare bay area is  restricted by a line connecting Capes Peshchurov and Elizarov, and is subordinate to the Far East Branch, Russian Academy of Sciences. Has a 500 m-wide sanitation zone from the waterline.
   Dumping of pollutants and waste and mining of mineral resources are banned in the sanctuary. Prospecting and removal of marine organisms are subject to control. All movement of motor vehicles, camping, recreation outside specified  zones, and destruction of vegetation shall also be prohibited.
